With members spread across banks, fintech firms, and financial institutions throughout Sweden, Finansförbundet faces the coordination complexity that any membership-driven NPO knows well.
Elected club representatives operate at hundreds of individual workplaces, decisions flow upward through a democratic congress that meets every three years, and member services are delivered consistently across a distributed network of local chapters and a central secretariat. All in service of a mission rooted in fair working conditions rather than profit.
Challenge
Finansförbundet was changing its membership system and needed to run a procurement and comparison process to find the right provider. The challenge: many vendors can deliver similar functionality, so it’s hard to separate them on features alone — and the union needed more effective member communication, a simpler interface, and higher usage among both members and elected representatives.
Solution
The selection grew out of a structured comparison process. Consultant Martin Gussen describes evaluating providers against a thorough requirements specification with detailed functional requirements — and notes that because many vendors can deliver similar features, the decision often comes down to price. Katrin and Anders set out their expectations for RAM-service: more effective communication with members, a simpler interface, and higher adoption among both members and elected representatives. They also stress the importance of clearly handling key focus issues, that the partners are Nordic, and that the data is held in the Nordics.
Outcome
Finansförbundet chose its provider through a rigorous, requirements-driven comparison rather than on features alone. The expectation is more effective member communication, an easier-to-use interface, and higher usage across members and elected representatives — supported by a Nordic partnership and Nordic data hosting, with clear handling of the union’s key focus issues.
