From the beginning.
Our story started in 2007 in Finland, when Mikko Korpela founded a company called OptimiIT Oy. He had noticed that there was a great need for an easy-to-use, cloud-based CRM solution in organisations and companies of different sizes. In addition to usability, OptimIT wanted to streamline system deployment, challenging complex and lengthy deployment processes.

First steps.
Our story started with two people in a small six-square-metre office room, where a closet served as the server room. However, the first partner and customer contracts were quickly signed, and soon the servers in the small office room were moved to a separate data centre room. This made working in the office much easier, as the constant hum of the servers stopped.
In 2010, the brand was changed to CRM-service and since then the company has been operating under the name CRM-service Oy. Based on customer feedback, the strategy was refined so that the delivery and support of the CRM solution in Finland was now also provided in-house.
Shared growth.
Since the beginning, the company’s strategy has been to offer customers and organisations a wide range of services. Over the years, our company has therefore acquired both high-quality partners and skilled employees to offer our customers the best tools in one software package.
Our CRM-service solution evolved over the years based on the needs of our clients, but the ever-digitising world has created a need for non-profit organizations to use CRM software alongside membership registry software. We believe that every organisation should have the option to purchase software that is truly easy to use.
Over the years, we added to our strategy the desire to serve a variety of non-profit organisations and to offer them a comprehensive solution that combines the best of CRM software and organisation management software.

The power of collaboration.
Businesses and organisations benefit from each other, and one example of this synergy is the fusion of our contact centre functionality into the helpdesk process that is so important to organisational customers.
In 2023, the company’s Swedish operations were relaunched and the first customer contracts with organisational clients were signed in the same year. In the future, we are heading towards Norway and Denmark, as the steady growth that comes with client focus continues to be strong.
Building the intelligent NPO platform.
AI is a core part of our product strategy and roadmap. Our goal is to bring AI into the platform in ways that make your organisation genuinely more efficient — from automating repetitive administrative tasks to surfacing insights from your member data.
As the ever-digitising world continues to create new needs for non-profit organisations, we are committed to doing this responsibly. AI features are designed to support your staff and members, not replace human judgement. We will continue to expand our AI capabilities over time as part of our broader mission to help NPOs work smarter.

A new name for a new era.
In 2026, CRM-service took a defining step: a full rebrand as memberio.
The name change is more than cosmetic. It reflects almost 20 years of growing conviction that non-profit organisations deserve a platform built entirely around them — not adapted from a generic CRM, but designed from the ground up for the way NPOs work. memberio speaks directly to what these organisations do every day: building and nurturing communities of members, donors, volunteers, and advocates.
The rebrand marks a sharpened identity and a clearer product vision. Everything that made CRM-service trusted in the Nordics — the sector expertise, the modular architecture, the GDPR-compliant Nordic hosting, the commitment to responsible AI — carries forward under the new name. Existing customers experienced no disruption; all contracts, integrations, and data remained fully intact.
“We have always built for non-profits, but today we are saying it louder than ever. memberio exists to amplify positive impact for NPOs — giving them an intelligent platform, passionate people, and a community that supports their work.”
