VaLa is pressing for Finland’s planned reform of tax deductibility for donations to proceed as scheduled. Citing the World Giving Report, it notes that personal financial constraints block giving for 57 percent of Finns against a European average of 44 percent, and that Finland is an outlier on donation tax relief. With public funding for organisations shrinking, VaLa argues new ways to strengthen private giving are needed.
